Is Andile Jali in trouble at Chippa United? Club opens up on the ex-Orlando Pirates & Mamelodi Sundowns star's situation

After starting the season in a promising way for Chippa United, including scoring against his former club Orlando Pirates and claiming two Premier Soccer League Man of the Match awards, Andile Jali has disappeared from the radar.

He last featured in a competitive match for the Chilli Boys in mid-February after his absence from matchday squads had also been questioned.

In 2025, the experienced midfielder has played two games and Chippa coach Thabo September has again come forward to address Jali's situation.

“Let’s leave individual players, I don’t want to talk [about them],” said September as per FARPost. 

“He’s not injured; He is a Chippa player. Who else is not here? Then you’re going to make my players also [think] this one is bigger than this one, [and] it’s not. 

“Who else is not here? If you give me the players that are not here, all of them, then I will answer [for] the individuals,” added the former SuperSport United star.

"That is football, don’t look to mess up what we are building.”

What invites questions around Jali is how he has been leaving clubs for the latter part of his career.

In 2018, he was released from his contract by Belgian side KV Oostende with two months remaining on his contract.

He then joined Mamelodi Sundowns, with whom he parted ways before the end of the 2022/23 season amid ill-discipline allegations.

Last term, the midfielder prematurely left Moroka Swallows with a group of other players and his departure became a matter before the PSL dispute resolution chamber, which dismissed his claim for compensation for unfair dismissal.

September has not mentioned if Jali is training with the rest of the Chippa United squad.

With the Chilli Boys having nine PSL games before the season ends and still in the running for a top-three finish, it appears that September is not missing the absence of Jali.
