BackpageInterested in Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako? Kaizer Chiefs told to look elsewhere and avoid ex-Orlando Pirates defenders - 'Not good ideas'
BackpageWHAT HAPPENED?
Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Junior Khanye has cautioned the Premier Soccer League side from signing Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako.
Khanye said the two are not going to add any tangible value to the Naturena outfit because they failed to do so at Orlando Pirates.
Although he does not want Chiefs to sign Monyane, Khanye said he was surprised when he was released by Pirates.
BackpageWHAT KHANYE SAID ABOUT MONYANE
"I was surprised when I heard that Monyane had been released by Pirates. They have invested a lot in him from their development, and for them to let him go just like that, I don't understand. Yes, he was not playing regularly, but there are players like Thabiso Lebitso who just played a few games and got injured," Khanye told Soccer Laduma.
"Why keep Lebitso and release Monyane? It's like sending your child to school, paying school fees, finishing school, and when they are not working, then you abandon them. That's not good. And for him going to Chiefs, it's not a good idea. I think it will be the same as when they signed (Dillan) Solomons from Swallows, and he didn't fit in at Chiefs.
"Just like Pirates, Chiefs have their own culture and philosophy, and I don't think he can fit in there. And again, he has not been playing regularly for Pirates. Why sign him at Chiefs?"

WHAT KHANYE SAID ABOUT MAKO
Khanye hailed Mako and said it was a mistake for him to play second fiddle to Deon Hotto at Pirates. However, he thinks he will not be a good addition to Amakhosi.
"Make no mistake, Mako is the best left back South Africa has at the moment. A Mamelodi Sundowns product who was not given enough chances to prove himself at Pirates when he joined from Chippa United," Khanye stated.
"I think it's a mistake to play Deon Hotto ahead of Mako. That's a mistake. Although he is good, I think the Pirates made a mistake in releasing him, and I don't think it is a good idea for Chiefs to sign him. The system Chiefs are currently playing doesn't suit his style. And you need to sign other players who would complement him, and so far Chiefs haven't yet signed any players. You see the way Bradley Cross plays?" he asked.
"That's how Chiefs want to play, and that's not Mako's style. And again, there could have been no need to look for a left back if Chiefs didn't let go of the young Omega Mdaka, who is now at Stellenbosch FC. Look at that boy! What a player! A great left back going forward and also defending. That's the player they can be looking at, not Paseka Mako."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
After they were released by the Buccaneers, rumours are rife that both Monyane and Mako are set to sign for the Glamour Boys.
The duo left Pirates after struggling for game time and are expected to resuscitate their careers elsewhere.
Should Mako, who reports indicate has agreed on a three-year contract with Chiefs, move to Naturena, he will have to fight for a starting position with Bradley Cross and Happy Mashiane.
On the other hand, Monyane's signing will be an addition of options at the right-back position for Nasreddine Nabi. Solomons and Reeve Frosler are the current right-backs at Amakhosi; however, the latter has been unavailable due to an injury.
BackpagepixWHAT NEXT FOR MAKO AND MONYANE?
After failing to establish themselves as regulars for the Bucs, they must be eager to prove themselves elsewhere.
Going by the transfer rumours, they might end up doing exactly that, not far from Pirates, as Amakhosi could give them soft landings after tough times on the other side of Soweto.
