Orlando Pirates collected their fifth Premier Soccer League win in a row after beating TS Galaxy 2-0 on Wednesday night at the Orlando Stadium.

The hosts started the game on a high note, pinning the Rockets in their own half as Tshepang Moremi was denied by the crossbar just four minutes into the game.

Bucs eventually took the lead in the 20th minute; Galaxy captain Mlungisi Mbunjana was adjudged to have fouled Masindi Nemtajela, giving Evidence Makgopa a chance to beat goalkeeper Eliezer Tape from the penalty spot.

The second half, just like the initial one, was dominated by coach Abdeslam Ouaddou's men, who attacked with every little opportunity they got.

However, poor finishing, good goalkeeping, and resolute defending from the Rockets kept the Soweto giants.

Nevertheless, Galaxy were opened in the second minute of the added time with Deon Hotto setting up Tshegofatso Mabasa for an easy finish to make it 2-0 and win the match for Pirates.

The MTN8 champions are now third on the table with 15 points from seven games, two less than leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played more matches, and five points less than Sekhukhune United.

    THE MVP

Orlando Pirates' midfield dominated proceedings, limiting the Rockets from their usual passing game in the middle.

One player made Bucs dominate in the department is Masindi Nemtajela, who was a willing runner the whole night.

He is our Man of the Match.

    THE BIG LOSER

Kaizer Chiefs fans will surely not like this result since it has put their rivals above Amakhosi, who started the season well.

They have been taunting the Buccaneers for the better part of the last couple of weeks, but the coin has now turned.

While the Sea Robbers are third, the Glamour Boys, who will host AmaZulu on Wednesday, have dropped to sixth with 14 points.

  • WHAT COMES NEXT?

The next assignment for the Sea Robbers will be against Siwelele in the Carling Knockout.

In the last edition, the Soweto giants fell to the eventual champions, Magesi, in the Round of 16.

As Pirates play Lehlohonolo Seema's men, the Rockets will be up against the Orbit College in the annual tournament.
