    Pirates' on form

The winning run for Pirates has been going on since their victory over Siwelele. Victories over Chippa, Galaxy, and Sekhukhune United followed as Bucs send a signal that they are real title contenders this season.

They now lead with 16 points, three more than Richards Bay, who are second.

Since the Premier Soccer League reserve competition was launched in 2014, Pirates have yet to lay their hands on it. AmaTuks, Golden Arrows, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bloemfontein Celtic, Bidvest Wits, AmaZulu, Stellenbosch, SuperSport United, and Kaizer Chiefs have won the title before the Sea Robbers.

Keeping the winning run going will boost Bucs' chances of ending the long wait for the title, and given that their Soweto rivals are the defending champions, that should be an additional reason to ensure they win it.
