Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Samukelo Kabini, Bafana Bafana vs MozambiqueBackpage

'If you see Mbekezeli Mbokazi drinking alcohol with women, beat him; he is our tressure; Kamogelo Sebelebele over Relebohile Mofokeng is a crime! Bafana Bafana were lucky, but Nigeria scored with the hand, and Ronwen Williams should now make way for Sipho Chaine' - Fans

South Africa and Nigeria battled to a 1-1 draw in their Group C 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

Although Bafana Bafana were hoping to capitalise on home advantage and win, that was not possible, but the one point collected boosted their chances of earning a World Cup ticket nonetheless.

An own goal by William Troost-Ekong gave South Africa an early lead, but the Super Eagles fought back and equalised through Calvin Bassey.

Although the draw propelled Nigeria to the second position, a six-point gap still separates them from Bafana, who are leading the group with 17 points.

After the draw, GOAL takes a look at how the fans reacted after a qualifying showdown that pitted Africa's top rivals.

    Nkota's attitude is right

Mohau Nkota matures each game and hardly gets fazed by the opponents. The fact that he played the full 90 minutes against the physical Super Eagles says a lot about his game. The right kind of attitude you need to go to the World Cup - dEAR

    Broos irritates

Hugo Broos may be a good coach, but this nonsense of not making subs when other players show clear signs of tiredness is irritating. We should've won this game - Loui'

Sebelebele over Mofokeng is a crime

Nigeria were there for the taking. Frosler should’ve been out long ago. We missed Modiba in this game. His ability to link up and progress the lines is unmatched. Also, Sebelebele over Mofokeng is a crime. A serious one at that - Peace Nation

Why call up and not use

It seems Mofokeng was still injured. Which begs the question: why does Broos call up players knowing damn well he's not going to use them even when they are needed? It also means he doesn't rate Mdu at all. Well done to the boys though, just wanted to win for once - ȶ̶@̶2̶ʐ̶

    Lucky Bafana

Bafana were lucky. You couldn't even play well in your home. Nigeria might be out of the World Cup, but it's okay - Pamela Taiye Ilekhuoba

Didn't Broos see Nkota-Rele at Pirates

You would think Broos never saw Rele and Nkota cooking at Pirates; we needed that sub! Sometimes being hardheaded will cost you... I thought he spared Rele to kill the game. Williams should make way for Chaine! Ngezana can stay in Europe; we'll be fine – Karabo Motiang

    SA fumbled

We fumbled here if we're being honest. Nigerians aren't that strong; we should have won this game. Now I'm scared because Rwanda and Zimbabwe are tough - Nyambose
