    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Following a heavy challenge from Rwanda’s Claude Niyomugabo, Nigeria will be without star striker Victor Osimhen, ruling him out of their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa. 

    Ahead of the match, Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos addressed Osimhen’s absence and whether it could provide an advantage for his side.

    WHAT BROOS SAID?

    “We also have injuries and I think Osimhen is a very good striker,” said Broos during the pre-match press conference in Bloemfontein.

    “But I think the coach has lots of options to replace him,” he concluded.

    South Africa currently enjoy a comfortable six-point cushion over Nigeria at the top of Group C.
