    WHAT HAPPENED?

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs got in touch with him after the Toyota Cup between the Soweto giants and the Ghanaian side in July.

The 22-year-old Guinea custodian was impressive between the sticks, especially during the penalty shootout.

He claims Amakhosi made inquiries about him as he has one year left on his Asante Kotoko contract.

    WHAT CAMARA SAID

"I was approached after our friendly match. They appreciated my performance, especially the four penalties saved," said Camara as per Soccer Laduma.

"We had a long conversation. I told them to contact my club, as I still have a one-year contract. It's nice to see the interest from a historic club like Kaizer Chiefs.

"There are other clubs in Morocco and two in Europe who have also contacted me for information, but nothing concrete for the moment," added Camara whose father Kemeko once played for AmaZulu.

"I am ready to see out my contract. For the moment, there is no question of an extension. I keep my head up and I am working even harder to have a better season."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Capped twice by Guinea, Camara's CV appears attractive as an international player.

The giant shot-stopper's father is former Guinea international Kemoko Camara, who played for AmaZulu FC and in Scotland and Belgium as a keeper.

The approach claims come as Chiefs have been looking to beef up their goalkeeping department.

Fiacre Ntwari appeared to be on his way out of Naturena after he was left out of the group that travelled to the Netherlands for pre-season training camp.

That sparked rumours that Chiefs had resumed interest in Chippa United's Stanley Nwabali and now Camara.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Brandon Petersen is currently the Chiefs number one goalkeeper as Bruce Bvuma and Ntwari deputise him.

It is to be seen if Amakhosi will bring Camara to Naturena before the PSL transfer window is closed on September 22.
