How Kaizer Chiefs reportedly 'asked a lot of money' to sabotage Rwanda goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari's exit: 'You must be realistic'

How Ntwari sealed move to Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs decided to part ways with their legend, Itumeleng Khune, at the end of the 2023/24 season when Amakhosi finished in their worst-ever position, 10th, in the Premier Soccer League.

Both Petersen and Bvuma had failed to instill confidence in the technical team, explaining why Amakhosi wanted a new custodian.

Chippa United's Stanley Nwabali was the one heavily linked with Amakhosi, but it was Ntwari who was signed from TS Galaxy.

    Ntwari loses his Chiefs position

The Rwanda international struggled to settle at Amakhosi, failing to keep clean sheets by conceding seemingly easy goals.

Initially, it was Bvuma who was reinstated, but Petersen eventually got his chance owing to the former's inconsistencies.

He has since held the position, with Ntwari and Bvuma coming in when a rest is needed.

Did Chiefs price Ntwari out of potential deals?

Rwanda coach Adel Amrouche has revealed that some teams were keen on getting the services of the goalkeeper, but Amakhosi were not keen on letting him go cheaply.

“A lot of teams contacted me, [but] the team [Chiefs] asked a lot of money. You must be realistic,” he told iDiski Times.

“It’s good when you have three very good goalkeepers instead of one, and it’s difficult for me to say what I think, maybe because I want to protect my goalkeeper.

“Also, I must respect the club, the decision of the coach, and the other goalkeeper of Chiefs," Amrouche concluded.

What Ntwari should do to get playing time

As seen in the past, the most consistent player at Amakhosi always gets to the top.

Ntwari did well against Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout's Round of 16 and should keep the momentum going in training.

However, it seems Petersen is determined to continue serving as Chiefs' first choice.
