    WHAT HAPPENED?

Rhulani Mokwena was confirmed as the MC Alger coach at the start of the season owing to his experience in African football.

He joined the team from Moroccan outfit Wydad Athletic Club, where he didn't deliver as the fans and management had anticipated.

However, in Algeria, Mokwena has helped the Doyen claim three wins in a row to take the points tally to 10 from four outings.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While in Mzansi, Mokwena was not scared of expressing himself to the media and telling off officials where he felt they made a mistake.

In Morocco, the former Sundowns coach continued with the trend, which led to warnings from the league managers.

It has been quite different in Algeria, and Mokwena has explained the reason for the changes.

    WHAT MOKWENA SAID

"We still have many areas to improve. We've only been working together for two and a half months, but I already feel very clear about what we want to achieve," he said after his team's most recent win.

“We must be commended for having a good team, and coaches [Patrice] Beaumelle and [Khaled] Ben Yahia did an excellent job before me.

"When you manage a big club, you have to understand the importance of the twelfth man," Mokwena continued.

"I salute our fans for the attitude they showed and ask them to be patient with the players.

“It's important that we achieve victories to motivate the players. This group works very hard, and we must remain personally humble.

"I prefer to stay away from the media and let our performance speak for us," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

MC Alger's management has given Mokwena most of the players and other things he needs to deliver.

The South African has no alternative but to meet the set objectives.
