    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of three players as the January transfer window is about to close.

The Soweto giants have signed Congolese forward Glody Lilepo from French third-tier side Valenciennes FC on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Also joining Amakhosi is midfielder Thabo Cele who arrives at Naturena as a free agent with his last club being Russian side Fakel Voronezh.

The Bafana Bafana linkman joins Chiefs on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Another striker Tashreeq Morris comes in from SuperSport United on a two-and-a-half-year deal in a swap deal that sees Christian Saile Basomboli going the opposite way.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The new Soweto giants' signings will be out to prove that the club did not make yet another transfer blunder.

The arrival of Lilepo and Morris is expected to ease scoring woes being experienced by Chiefs strikers who are already at Naturena.

Meanwhile, it will be the first time for Cele to play Premier Soccer League football, having been in Europe since 2016 where he played in Portugal, Poland and Russia.

    WHAT NEXT?

It remains to be seen if the three signings will feature in Saturday's Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

However, for Lilepo, his debut is subject to getting a South African work permit.
