    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Gabriel Nyoni was one of the talented Zimbabwean players who played in the Premier Soccer League.

    The forward was among the players who delivered for Maritzburg United during their time in the South African top-tier.

    He played in Mzansi between 2019 and 2022.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    However, things took a turn for the worse in February 2021 when turning out for Cape Umoya.

    During the National First Division match against Richards Bay, the striker suffered a Lisfranc fracture that ended his career.

    While the fans were hoping he could return to action, the case was different on his father's side, as confirmed by the former player.

    WHAT NYONI SAID

    "When I was injured, my father celebrated my downfall," he told Nehanda Radio.

    "My fans whispered hope, telling me I still had a chance. God confirmed it: you still can. And today, every drop of sweat proves I truly can.

    “My journey is not just about football; it’s about resilience, about refusing to let pain define me. If you’re reading this, let my story remind you: no one has the final say over your life except God.

    "See you next year, stronger than ever," Nyoni concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

    Currently, Nyoni is in Mzansi where he is running his businesses while giving back to football to the best of his capacity.

    It will be interesting to see him getting back to the beautiful game as a coach to one of the top sides in the country.
