    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thembinkosi Lorch is reported to have completed his transfer from the Tshwane giants to the Botola Pro League powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been the centre of speculation in recent weeks, with rumours suggesting that he would not be ending the current season with the Premier Soccer League giants.

Consequently, it appears that Lorch will be moving to Rhulani Mokwena's Wydad in Morocco after Sundowns consented to loan him out.

  • WHAT WAS SAID

Local news sources have reported that Lorch is set to join Wydad AC on a six-month loan deal from Sundowns.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Just days before the South African January transfer window closed at midnight on Tuesday, Lorch was said to be on his way to Kaizer Chiefs.

Nonetheless, that possible transfer to the Soweto team did not materialise, with reports suggesting that an agreement between the two clubs could not be reached.

'Nyoso', as the attacker is nicknamed, joined the Brazilians in January 2023, but his stay at the club dramatically changed following the departure of Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi as he only played six matches this season.

    WHAT NEXT?

An announcement regarding Lorch's move to Wydad is anticipated soon, as the Moroccan transfer window is due to close this upcoming Friday.

On the other hand, Sundowns are scheduled to play against Golden Arrows at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, January 2.
