Former Orlando Pirates star believes Footballer of the Season debate is settled after Mamelodi Sundowns vs Bucs clash - 'We all know who it is'

“It was one of those games as well to separate men from boys and to show why Mamelodi Sundowns has been the most dominant team for so long," said Modise on the Pitchside Podcast.

"And I think it was about time as well to remind people because remember as well as to how we started the season. And the problem is, you know, when you are a team or a person that always wants to go to the top level, you’re always being encouraged. You know, you’re given all this equipment and material for you to be at the top, but once you’re at the top for too long, everybody wants to drag you down.

“And that was the case with Mamelodi Sundowns this season. And I think that’s the game that reminded everybody as to then why Sundowns is Sundowns. And I strongly believe you rightfully said, there should have been more goals. And yeah, I mean, I think also it certifies as to who the Footballer of the Year is, and we all know who the Footballer of the Year is."

With Sundowns competing in the league, Caf Champions League, and Nedbank Cup, Ribeiro will be a key player in their pursuit of a treble.
