Former Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids masterminds another win for Raja ahead of derby clash against Thembinkosi Lorch's Wydad

The former Simba SC tactician has had a rather good start to his reign with the Moroccan outfit. Davids left the Tanzanian heavyweights for a return to North Africa, where he hopes to enjoy some success.

    Casablanca struggle past Dcheira

    Former Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids masterminded another Botola Pro League for Raja Casablanca after a 1-0 win over Olympique Dcheira on Saturday.   

    Casablanca scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute when Adam Ennaffati found the back of the net.

    Big win

    Although it was a slim win, the points collected helped Raja go second and are just a point below Maghreb Fez, who lead with 12 points but have played six games, one more than Raja.  

    Davids' side has also overtaken Thembinkosi Lorch's Wydad Casablanca, who are third with 10 points. Lorch and his teammates, however, have played one fewer game, and that gives them an edge against their crosstown rivals.

    Return to winning ways

    Before the game against Dcheira, Raja had dropped points in their previous league game against Maghreb Fez after the match ended in a 1-1 draw on October 3.

    Tough test awaits Davids

    After the win over Dcheira, Davids will start preparing his charges for the Casablanca Derby. They are set to clash with Wydad on October 29.  

    Apart from the derby's bragging rights, the game will carry an extra stake; the winner will widen the gap over their rival as the title race catches momentum.
