    WHAT HAPPENED?

Teko Modise shared a heartfelt story with Josta Dladla on the Izinja Zegame Podcast, reflecting on how his career shifted positively after a life-changing conversation with Pitso Mosimane.

The meeting came after Modise had just won Player of the Season, and Pitso convinced him to move to SuperSport United, where his growth accelerated.

Modise would later make history by joining Mamelodi Sundowns and becoming one of the key players in their golden era.

Today, the former midfield maestro is a respected football analyst, offering insights from his decorated career.

He boasts major honours like a league title, a Caf Champions League medal, and proudly represented Bafana Bafana at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

His journey is a true inspiration for the next generation of South African footballers.

    WHAT MODISE SAID

"When the season ended, I won Footballer of the Year in NFD (National First Division), after that, all 16 (PSL) teams wanted to sign me. I spoke to most of them individually," Modise revealed on Izinja zeGame podcast with Josta Dladla, as reported by Soccer Laduma.

"You have to understand I can't be emotional, my decisions are life-altering. I can't be excited about everything, I need to make sure whatever decision I make will be sustainable.

"I was more mature, I spoke to Pirates, the late bra 'Screamer' (Tshabalala), everybody individually. Then what changed was coach Pitso calls me, out of everyone I spoke to, Pitso starts coaching (while) we're sitting at a restaurant, telling me where I'm gonna play. He's not telling me I want you to come to my team, he starts coaching. I knew from that table I wanted to play for SuperSport (United)," the Bafana Bafana legend added.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sundowns are now just 180 minutes away from replicating the heroics of the 2016 team that conquered the African continent.

Modise was an essential part of that historic squad that delivered the club’s first-ever Champions League star.

The current side, led by Miguel Cardoso, hopes to follow in those footsteps and etch their names into club folklore.

A second star would solidify Masandawana’s status as a true African powerhouse.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SUNDOWNS?

Sundowns now shift their focus back to domestic duties as they prepare to face Richards Bay in a crucial league clash.
With the league title within touching distance, every point counts for Masandawana.

Victory against Richboyz would bring them one step closer to an eighth consecutive PSL crown.
