    Late goal saves Alger

Mokwena's side fell when Colombe found the back of the net in the 14th minute through Inno Loemba.

However, Alger fought back and equalised in the 85th minute when Ayoub Ghezala struck.

The former Orlando Pirates coach now hopes to see his side win the next game for them to seal a place in the group stage.

    Ambition

Mokwena hopes to guide the Algerian league champions further in the competition after getting eliminated in the quarter-final last season.

With his experience at the continental stage with Mamelodi Sundowns, the South African tactician is aware of the challenges and intensity of the Champions League campaign.

Personally, he is also keen to succeed after his challenging stint with Moroccan heavyweights, Wydad Casablanca.

What lies ahead of Mokwena's Alger

He was appointed with the hope that he could help MC Alger register success both on the domestic and continental fronts.

Alger are seventh on the Ligue Professionnelle 1 standings with 10 points but have only played four games. JS Saoura lead with 15 points, having played eight games.
