    WHAT HAPPENED?

Gavin Hunt has been coaching in South Africa for close to three decades.

Bidvest Wits, SuperSport United, AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs are just some of the teams he has coached.

In his career, Hunt has won the Telkom Knockout, MTN8, Nedbank Cup twice and four Premier Soccer League titles.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

However, this season, Hunt is not having it easy at SuperSport United.

He struggled to make an impact in the MTN8 and Carling Knockout competitions.

In the PSL, his team is struggling for consistency; the Swanky Boys are currently placed 12th on the table with 17 points from as many matches.

Some critics feel it is time for the 60-year-old to call it a day, but Hunt is not buying that.

    WHAT HUNT SAID

“When I hear that, I get very offended because I mean, I must be careful what I say here”, the tactician told iDiski Times.

“But you can put all the managers together and they’ve not won what I won. So now you are going to throw me away because of 10 bad games with the other 900 games having been good? You’ve got to be very careful. I look all around the world, even in business, and see how we are quick to throw away. They say, ‘it’s time to go; he must retire’.

"And then you bring someone in, and there’s a little upsurge, but then what? You can’t be throwing experience away. Maybe if I’ve lost the passion and the desire and love to come and be the first one here in the morning like I was today," he added.

"I don’t have to be here first, but if I lose that and the passion goes obviously that’s another thing. But I still want to improve, and I still want to win," Hunt concluded.
