    Zungu raises his hand

Former Rangers and Amiens star Bongani Zungu believes he still has a chance to play for Bafana Bafana again in the future.

The AmaZulu midfielder has not been part of the national side in the recent past, but he is hopeful that he still has something to offer the team.

    Unstoppable!

“It’s brilliant, and I think the coach has done an amazing job. I have never been coached by him, but I think whatever he is saying to them is working. It’s amazing, and we are proud. I was in the national team, and seeing what the guys are doing is inspiring," Zungu told Soccer Laduma

“Nothing is impossible (in terms of returning to the national team). When I am fit and happy, I am unstoppable. Maybe the national team coach can have a change of heart; you never know. He has done that before," he added.

    Will Broos change his heart?

The experienced midfielder believes that if Broos changed his mind on Themba Zwane, then he can still do the same for him.

He has never played under the Belgian, who has always preferred other options and, in most cases, younger midfielders than Zungu.

    Zwane example

When he took over in 2021, Broos overlooked Sundowns' captain Zwane, defending his decision by stating that he prefers having young players. This is a decision that drew a lot of criticism, as many believed the multiple Premier Soccer League winner was still a key player for Bafana.

However, the former Cameroon head coach later changed his mind and brought Zwane back into the fold.

Although he has been ruled out by injuries, especially when Bafana have key games, Zwane has always been considered since his return in September 2022.

    AFCON finals

Bafana, who still have a chance to qualify for the 2026 World Cup despite the point deduction, will take part in the upcoming AFCON finals. The continental showpiece will start in December 2025 and end in January 2026.
