    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have not started the season as the fans anticipated.

They have three wins in nine Premier Soccer League matches, as many draws and three losses as well.

The Glamour Boys were further eliminated from the Carling Knockout in the quarter-final hurdle by Mamelodi Sundowns.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are seemingly the main contenders for the 2024-26 PSL crown.

The defending champions top the log with 27 points from the 10 games played, three more than the Buccaneers who have 24 having played a game less.

The duo's form is impressive as opposed to the Glamour Boys, who are currently ninth on the table.

However, that does not mean Amakhosi are out of the race for the title as explained by Given Msimango.

    WHAT MSIMANGO SAID

"Merry Christmas to all our supporters, we wish that all the best on this day. But as for the team, my main wish is for us to stay consistent in our performance," he told the media.

"My wish is that we win as many games as we can and bring back those glory days, but above all, I wish that we bring back the glory days for the club and the chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung Senior and continue to play well and win games.

"It's still too early to [rule] out any club in the league title [race]. We are looking at that as well and my wish is for us to continue playing well, not just for us as players, but also for our supporters. Our goal is to continue fighting for the league title, it's still wide open for anyone to win," Msimango concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Amakhosi play Chippa United on Sunday hoping to get a win after managing just one in their last seven league assignments.

Being their last game of the year, the Glamour Boys will be hoping to give their supporters something to celebrate.
