    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns are not keen on selling Bafana Bafana defender Khuliso Mudau, the star's agent, Steve Kapeluschnik, has confirmed.

Mudau is yet to feature for Sundowns this season, and his absence has only increased speculation around his future.

While his agent has confirmed that he has several offers for the Bafana defender, he stated that the Premier Soccer League defending champions are not ready to let him go.

    WHAT KAPELUSCHNIK SAID

“The situation seems clear – Sundowns are not considering any transfers right now,” Kapeluschnik said, as quoted by SABC Sports.

"Khuliso is an important player for the team, and the club wants to keep it that way. I’ve brought multiple offers, and they’ve all been rejected. Even today, I received two calls from Morocco enquiring about the player, but it seems to me like Sundowns want to keep him," he added.

“Yes, the club triggered a one-year option on his previous deal, but the hope now is to work on an improved agreement so Khuliso can be settled again. Khuliso wants to return as soon as possible, but it needs to be done correctly.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sundowns are already embroiled in a transfer saga involving Lucas Ribeiro, who, like Mudau, is yet to play for Masandawana this season.

Mudau had been linked with several clubs, including ones from Europe, but as revealed by the agent, Downs are not ready to lose the experienced defender.

He is among the players summoned for South Africa's 2026 World Cup qualifiers, cementing the fact that Hugo Broos still believes in him.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MUDAU?

Given that he is a key player for the Tshwane giants, the fans are eagerly following the uncertainty around his future.

His return to action will also boost his chances of keeping his Bafana position ahead of key games ahead: the World Cup qualifiers and the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals that will start at the end of the year.

Broos will need him ready, and to do that, he must be involved as soon as possible because inaction will place his position under threat.
