    WHAT HAPPENED?

Chippa United coach Sinethemba Badela is said to be enduring a fractious relationship with the club's sporting director, Sinesipho Mali.

According to FARPost and SABC Sport, the two are said not to be aligning on the direction the club should take, especially when it comes to new signings.

The reports suggest that Badela could be fired by the Chilli Boys just two months after being appointed as their coach..

    WHAT BADELA SAID

Recently, the Chilli Boys coach responded to the reports that all is not well at the club.

“Of course, we always disagree on things. If you find people you work with who agree on everything, then you know there’s a problem there,” Badela said as per SABC Sport.

“But I wouldn’t say there are fights. We’re all following the ambition of the chairman [Siviwe Mpengesi], the direction that he wants us to take. We’re trying our best every single day to follow the lead from the Mpengesi family.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Should Badela get the boot, he could become the first Premier Soccer League coach to be fired this season.

He has, so far, been in charge of just two games, a 1-1 draw with reigning PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns and a 1-0 defeat by Durban City.

The youthful coach is at a club that is known for not being patient with their trainers.

    WHAT NEXT FOR BADELA?

Chippa will be inactive this weekend as MTN8 semi-final matches take the limelight.

But it is also a period that could see a decision on Badela being made and sealing the fate of the coach who has previously worked at Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Casablanca.
