Orlando Pirates dominated from the outset, putting Stellenbosch under constant pressure. Oswin Appollis almost marked his comeback into the lineup with an early goal, but his thunderous shot rattled the post, leaving goalkeeper Sage Stephens stranded.

The home side made the breakthrough in the 15th minute when Kamogelo Sebelebele netted a spectacular long-range strike, securing his second goal in as many games.

Soon after, Pirates were forced into a substitution as Deano van Rooyen was carried off on a stretcher. Sipho Mbule came on, with Sebelebele slotting into right-back.

Stellenbosch struggled to create chances and rarely threatened inside the Pirates’ box. The Buccaneers went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.

Pirates dominated the early stages of the second half, pinning the visitors deep in their own half. The away side eventually grew into the game and tried to test the Buccaneers’ defence, but the hosts held firm to protect their 1-0 lead and secure their first three points of the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League season.

    THE MVP

With two goals in two games, Sebelebele is proving his worth at the Buccaneers and contributed effectively in both defence and attack against Stellies.

    THE BIG LOSER

Despite the Western Cape side showing more spark in the second half, their attack, including Lehlohonolo Mojela, posed little real threat.
