    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns extended their league dominance by clinching their eighth consecutive league title after securing three points in East London, beating Chippa United with a game to spare. Their triumph means they have officially dethroned Orlando Pirates in the title race.

Jayden Adams, who joined Sundowns just four months ago, has now added a PSL title to his growing list of honours. This is his second league medal after previously winning the NFD with Stellenbosch FC. Speaking to GOAL, the Bafana Bafana midfielder described the title as a major milestone in his career.

He emphasized that the achievement wasn’t just for him but for his community back home in the Western Cape, including Cloetesville, Idas Valley, and Kayamandi. Adams' journey from the Cape to Chloorkop has been swift and impactful. His contribution to Sundowns’ success has been a source of pride for his roots and a reminder of the talent emerging from local communities.

    WHAT ADAMS SAID

"I'm very excited, it's a big one for me. But this one goes to my family and my parents and everyone back home. I mean Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Cloetesville, Idas Valley, Kayamandi, so yeah," Adams told GOAL.

"Champions League is going to be a big achievement for me. So yeah, we focus on that now."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This season has been one of the most chaotic in recent years, with off-field drama such as Royal AM’s expulsion casting a shadow over the league. For Miguel Cardoso, winning the title early brings massive relief after a mentally draining campaign.

Now, his focus can shift completely to the Caf Champions League final, where Sundowns hope to claim their second star. The league win also injects confidence and momentum ahead of the continental showdown.

Meanwhile, the race for the Golden Boot adds excitement to the final stretch, with both Iqraam Rayners and Lucas Ribeiro tied at 14 goals each going into matchday 28.
