Exciting Baroka FC winger Kabelo Kgositsile breaks silence on signing for Orlando Pirates and reveals admiration for Relebohile Mofokeng & Mohau Nkota as he sees Buccaneers move as a stepping stone - ‘I am the only one working at home, so I want to play for my mom every time’

Kabelo Kgositsile secured the opportunity of a lifetime when he signed for Orlando Pirates from Baroka in June.

The exciting left-winger won’t feature in coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s plans just yet, as he’s set to spend the 2025/26 season on loan with the Limpopo-based club.

Despite the temporary move, Kgositsile has opened up about what joining the Buccaneers means to him and how it impacts his life.

“I was so excited after signing for Pirates because it had always been my dream to play for a big team,” Kgositsile told Sowetan.

“All I want to do when I get to Pirates is to work very hard and make my mom proud. Every time I play, I think about the background I come from. My mom [Francisa Kgositsile] is a single parent and she's not working, so I always think about changing her life for the better. I am the only one working at home, so I want to play for my mom every time.

“I think it's that Nedbank Cup game that made Pirates sign me,” Kgositsile revealed.

“I look up to Mofokeng and Nkota ... seeing them doing well at Pirates last season motivated me a lot to say I can also do it because the club believes in young players,” he concluded.

Kgositsile is among a host of signings that the Sea Robbers have made during the transfer window, including Sipho Mbule, Yanela Mbuthuma, Masindi Nemtajela, Tshepang Moremi, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Abdoulaye S Mariko, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Tshepo Mashiloane, Sihle Nduli, Oswin Appollis and Kamogelo Sebelebele. 

Kgositsile will be focused on making a strong impression to earn his place in the Black and White after his loan spell. 

At the same time, he’ll be eager to help Baroka push for promotion to the top flight.
