Ex-Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch wins first award in Morocco after career rejuvenation at Wydad Casablanca

    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Mamelodi Sundowns loaned out Thembinkosi Lorch to Wydad Casablanca in February.

    This was after he struggled for game time at Masandawana under both Manqoba Mngqithi and Miguel Cardoso.

    But the 31-year-old has picked himself up at Wydad where he is now a regular and has been named the Club's Player of the Month for March.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    If Lorch continues with his good performances, Cardoso could recall him for next season.

    The South African is one of the experienced players expected to help Wydad secure a Caf Champions League spot for next season.

    The Moroccan giants are third on the Botola Pro League table with two points less than second-placed FAR Rabat.

    Having scored one goal in eight appearances across all competitions for Wydad, Lorch would want to improve on that.

    The former Orlando Pirates star is now bracing for Saturday's Casablanca Derby when Wydad host rivals Raja as they try to be consistent after blowing hot and cold recently.
