    WHAT HAPPENED?

Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has cautioned Premier Soccer League log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of their league encounter.

Despite speculation that Seema's future at the club is at risk, with management allegedly planning to dismiss him, Babina Noko have been performing well lately.

As Sekhukhune prepare for the contest against Masandawana, Seema firmly believes that his team has the potential to upset Miguel Cardoso's star-laden team.

    WHAT SEEMA SAID

"I can tell you, every game we play to win it, AmaZulu has been our hoodoo team, beating us home and away, Golden Arrows, the likes of SuperSport United," Seema said on Munghana Lonene FM Sports Show.

"But now you can see that we are a team that has belief, the group of players that I have, have one voice, one belief that we can do better.

"Sundowns have been doing very well, they are not on top of the log by mistake. But as Sekhukhune, we are playing at home, and I can tell you, on Wednesday, we will take the game to Sundowns," he added.

"Now they [Sundowns] are scoring four goals, let them score four, and hopefully, we can score five, but definitely, we are not going to the game and day we fear Sundowns."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sekhukhune United have never secured a victory over Sundowns. In the seven encounters between the two sides, Seema's team has only managed to draw once and has suffered six defeats.

Currently, United sits in third place in the PSL table, trailing the leaders, Sundowns by 17 points and five points behind second-placed Orlando Pirates, who have three matches in hand.

Seema’s team might face Downs again soon, but this time in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals, provided they claim a victory over Milford FC in their Round of 16 match scheduled at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday, March 2.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SEKHUKHUNE?

Sekhukhune will be aiming to secure maximum points on home turf as they welcome Sundowns at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

With the season nearing its end, the Limpopo-based team is striving for a Caf-Inter-club spot while also targeting the 2024/25 Nedbank Cup title.
