    WHAT HAPPENED?

Golden Arrows have parted ways with two long-serving players, Knox Mutizwa and Thabani Zuke.

Mutizwa, who joined the club in 2017 after a loan spell from Bidvest Wits, went on to become a key figure, scoring 63 goals and providing 23 assists in 231 appearances.

Zuke, meanwhile, was promoted to the first team in the 2019/20 season after impressing in the DDC.

He made 93 appearances for the senior team, contributing a goal and an assist.

Their exits come at a time when Arrows are struggling, sitting 12th on the log with 26 points from 22 matches.

They are just three points above the relegation zone, and the squad shake-up signals urgent action to avoid the drop.

    WHAT THE REPORTS SAID

According to FARPost, Zuke was dismissed after Golden Arrows discovered he had allegedly signed a pre-contract with AmaZulu FC.

The move raised eyebrows, given the rivalry between the two Durban-based sides.

Mutizwa, meanwhile, was released due to what sources described as “below par performances.”

Insiders also mentioned there were other undisclosed reasons behind his departure.

The club opted for an immediate release of both players as part of a broader restructuring.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With the arrival of former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi, Golden Arrows are looking to hit the reset button and push for a top-eight finish.

Mngqithi brings vast experience and tactical acumen, and the recent squad changes seem to align with his vision.

The club is also reshaping its squad, adding fresh energy with several new signings from Royal AM.

Players like Philani Sithebe, Thabo Matlaba, and Siphesihle Msomi are expected to bring experience and stability.

This revamp suggests Arrows are aiming to bounce back from an inconsistent season.

The new direction could breathe life into a side looking to reclaim its competitive edge in the PSL.
