    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn Baccus recently pleaded guilty to betting allegations slapped against him.

The 33-year-old was accused of committing the offense alongside Ulises Davila and Clayton Lewis while playing for Macarthur Bulls FC in Australia.

While Baccus' contract with the club concluded in June 2024, the other two deals were terminated.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Baccus, who played for the Glamour Boys between 2019 to 2022, was allegedly paid A$10,000 [approximately R116,000] to intentionally get booked in at least two top-tier games in Australia.

The versatile midfielder has since pleaded guilty to the offense, and the court is expected to announce the sentencing in September.

The club has since come out strongly to defend its reputation against the vices that negatively affect the game.
