    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Farouk Khan has identified a match-winning strategy that Amakhosi can use to beat Mamelodi Sundowns during Wednesday's Premier Soccer League duel.

Sundowns are set to face the Glamour Boys just after elimination from the MTN8 by Orlando Pirates. To Khan, the Sea Robbers used the aspect of speed to beat Masandawana, and this is what Chiefs can use too.

    WHAT KHAN SAID

"I would like to go with a quick player like (Ashley) Du Preez. I think Du Preez could be a solution. Du Preez last season was scoring important goals; he has been out of favour for some reason," Khan said on the Soccerbeat YouTube Channel

"But when a player is sitting that long on the bench, he becomes hungry as well; he may want to prove a point, and we know when he came to Chiefs how important and impactful he was," he added.

    WHAT IS MORE

Khan explained why Du Preez will be the best forward for Chiefs when playing the Brazilians.

"So maybe go with him; he can cause problems for Sundowns' defence," Khan added.

"They have challenges in that defensive back four, sometimes back three; they are not always as comfortable as they should be, and now is the most opportune time to put one over Sundowns, because there are a lot of problems in their camp."

"You can see there's a lot of instability."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Pirates managed to outclass Sundowns courtesy of Kamogelo Sebelebele's speed, and this is what Khan wants Chiefs to exploit.

Sebelebele is undoubtedly the Bucs' star in the two-legged semi-final clashes against the PSL defending champions. When the Sea Robbers were destined for elimination, he scored late equalisers that kept his club's dream alive.

To Khan, the player who can deliver the same match-winning effort is Du Preez, but the forward has had limited appearances this season.

Du Preez came on as a second-half substitute for Naledi Hlongwane in the match against Stellenbosch and was an unused substitute against Polokwane City. He was not in the matchday squad during the last game against Richards Bay.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

The Glamour Boys are looking for their fourth straight win in the league, and the Sundowns match - to be played on August 27 - is expected to give them the toughest challenge yet.

However, Sundowns come into this game as a wounded giant after they were eliminated from the MTN8 by Pirates. This is a situation Amakhosi can exploit and deepen the crisis at the Tshwane giants.
