    WHAT HAPPENED?

In their bid to bounce back from their initial struggles this season, Esteghlal appointed Pitso Mosimane as their new coach.

Mosimane was a free agent after failing to get a new deal following his exit from Abha.

Jingles, who is the most successful tactician in Africa, agreed to coach the Capital Blues.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mosimane found the going tough in Iran since he claimed the team did not have enough quality players.

He asked for new signings but the management did not grant him his wish.

They struggled to pay him as agreed owing to internal problems, and Mosimane eventually left the team.

However, Esteghlal CEO Hojjat Karimi now claims he knew the former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns coach would struggle.

He has further alleged it was illogical for his team to get a tactician from South Africa.

    WHAT KARIMI SAID

“Right from the start, the gentlemen claimed that they brought the African Lion to Iran,” he said as quoted by Varzesh3.

“Why did we need to bring a coach from Africa and a country whose football is much weaker than ours?

"We didn’t say anything during this time so as not to weaken the team, but it was clear to me that he wouldn’t succeed.

“Instead of bringing a coach to Esteghlal from a country with a style in football, we brought a coach from a place where I think Iran should export coaches [to]," Karimi concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Both the Esteghlal management and Pitso Mosimane have a challenge to prove their claims.

The Iranian outfit should deliver this season to show Jingles was wrong.

Nevertheless, the South African coach should get a new team and deliver as expected by his fans and Mzansi at large.
