    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns edged Esperance 1-0 in the first leg of the Caf Champions League quarter-finals at Loftus Versfeld last week.

The two teams meet again in the second leg in Rades on Tuesday with the Tunisians keen on overturning the defeat they suffered in Tshwane.

Esperance coach Maher Kanzari is confident they can beat Sundowns at home.

    WHAT KANZARI SAID

“What I can tell you it will be a big game in Tunisia, if they can score one, we can score three and go through – so we’re playing attacking football, I’m confident in playing attacking football in Tunisia,” the former Esperance midfielder said as per iDiski Times.

"There were some attacking players injured, so I rolled the dice. But without that, it could have been a 0-0 so I’m confident it will be a big game in Tunisia where will go for a win.

“I don’t think that it will matter in the next game, in Tunisia it will be a different ball game. In the last five years we know Sundonws and a technically and tactically good team but as I said, possession is not a key factor to get a result," added the 52-year-old.

“We will try to play another game. Yes they can have the ball but trust me, in Tunisia we will not play the same game, we will try and win to get to the semi-finals.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso is much familiar with most of Esperance players as he coached them.

His knowledge of their strength and weaknesses might carry the day for Sundowns in this crucial tie.

The Portuguese was the architect of Masandawana's Champions League exit last season when they were knocked out by Esperance.

    WHAT NEXT?

Masandawana are finalising their preparations to face Esperance on Tuesday and protect their lead.

A draw or if they score and lose by a one-goal margin would be enough for Masandawana to sail through to the semi-finals.
