While Manchester United's Mary Earps walked away with the main prize on Tuesday night's glitzy ceremony, crosstown rivals City earned plenty of recognition for their historic treble-winning year. Haaland was named as the 2023 World Sport Star, while his manager took the Coach of the Year award. Captain Kyle Walker also received the Team of the Year award on behalf of his team-mates.

With City currently on Club World Cup duty in Saudi Arabia, Haaland, Guardiola and Walker made short speeches for the ceremony via video.

It was another strong night for football at the 70th edition of the famous awards with the four main awards all won by the sport. Earps took the headline prize, succeeding last year's winner Beth Mead. City and Guardiola took over from England's Lionesses and their manager Sarina Wiegman in their respective categories while Haaland adds his name to a list alongside last year's victor Lionel Messi.

Liverpool and Celtic legend Sir Kenny Dalglish was also recognised with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding playing and management career.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR MANCHESTER CITY?

There could be more trophies to come for City this week as an easy win over Urawa Red Diamonds saw them progress to their first-ever Club World Cup final. Guardiola's men will take on South American champions Fluminense in Jeddah on Friday.
