Did Abdeslam Ouaddou's 'breakfast' comments provoke FC Saint Eloi Lupopo? Orlando Pirates' CAF Champions League rivals reveal strategy to stop victory-looking Bucs in Soweto

    Did Ouaddou provoke Lupopo?

Saint Lupopo head coach Guy Bukasa has responded to Abdeslam Ouaddou after his side humbled Orlando Pirates in a CAF Champions League second preliminary round encounter on Sunday.

Bucs suffered a 3-0 defeat in Lubumbashi in a first-leg duel, but what Ouaddou said before the game caught the attention of his Lupopo counterpart, who has now responded.

Ouaddou faced Simba before when he was in charge of AS Vita club, and a match in Lubumbashi was nothing new to him.

“We even know what Lupopo players will have for breakfast. We know this team well," Ouaddou said before the first-leg encounter at TP Mazembe Stadium.

    Winning strategy

Bukasa has responded sarcastically to Bucs' tactician and even revealed they are working on a strategy to beat the Soweto giants.

"With what happened today [Sunday], maybe he [Ouaddou] got what he needed, the dinner he was missing. All that's left is the outfit he wore before going to sleep," Bukasa said.

"We'll analyse this match [1st leg] and define the strategy for the return leg later this week. They still caused us problems.

"We need to pin them down well to respond to each difficulty. It won't be the same type of match, but they'll have possession like here. It's up to us to find the right formula so they don't pose a threat."

    Can Bucs overcome Lupopo?

The Premier Soccer League heavyweights headed into the first-leg encounter enjoying a fine run of winning games across all competitions, but they were stunned.

To avoid an early elimination, Ouaddou must come up with a precise winning strategy and hold the belief that his boys will execute it with success.

Although he has managed to stabilise the Bucs' boat so far after a poor start in the league, Ouaddou faces another challenge ahead; he must ensure that his side progresses further in the Champions League.

Last season, Pirates were so close but were eliminated by eventual winners Pyramids FC.

The return leg will be played on October 25.
