    WHAT HAPPENED?

Cubarsi poked towards goal as Barcelona took the lead in the 25th minute of the Champions League quarter-final tie, leaving the 18-year-old defender thinking he had scored for the first-ever time in the competition. However, Raphinha had come rushing in and knocked the ball over the line to get his name on the scoresheet instead.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

It turned out to be a bit of a risky move for the Brazilian as the effort was reviewed by VAR under the suspicion he had strayed offside, but the it was allowed to stand. Raphinha faced criticism for more than his daring dash, with Marca taking aim at him for depriving Cubarsi of the honour of a Champions League goal.

An article on the incident said: "The Brazilian 'stole' the goal from his team-mate. That's something you just don't do, especially not to a kid like Cubarsi, who was making his [first] Champions League goal."

    WHAT RAPHINHA SAID

Raphinha, 28, said he apologised to his younger team-mate and is not counting it as a goal of his own. "I was worried about being offside. I told him I'd touched the ball earlier, apologised and said I'd count it as an assist. I want to score goals and I'm here for that. I didn't know if it was going in yet," he said.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Raphinha now has 12 goals in the Champions League this season, making him the top scorer in the competition - with one more than team-mate Robert Lewandowski. His assists for the Polish striker and Lamine Yamal take his tally up to seven to put him at the top of that chart, too.

    WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA?

Barca ran out 4-0 winners against Dortmund and look destined to reach the semi-finals of the competition. Before next week's second leg, Hansi Flick's men will attempt to protect their lead at the top of La Liga with a win against Leganes on Saturday.
