    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs are currently eighth on the Premier Soccer League table as they struggle for consistent results.

That has sparked fears among their fans that the club might fail to end the season in the top half for the second campaign running.

Former Chiefs winger Junior Khanye does not see Nasreddine Nabi's side attaining a top-eight finish, which would mean missing out on the MTN8 again.

    WHAT KHANYE SAID

“I have said this before, Top eight, No!” said Khanye on iDiski TV as per iDiksi Times.

“Remember Chippa United have two games in hand and are behind them. I know that games in hand don’t mean you have the points already.

"And below that, there’s a team that has games in hand. Also, Kaizer Chiefs need to win their games and not focus on other teams they have to do the job themselves.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Placing Chiefs in an uncomfortable position is that ninth-placed Chippa United have a point less than Amakhosi but have two games in hand.

Golden Arrows who are 10th have played three matches fewer than Chiefs and are trailing the Soweto giants by two points.

However, while there appears to be worry about finishing outside the top eight, Chiefs still have chances to finish the season in the top three, although it would be a tricky push.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Chiefs are left with six PSL matches to go before the end of the season and that is 18 points to play for.

It is going to be a testing period for the Soweto giants whose league fixtures include facing rivals and title chasers Orlando Pirates, tricky Polokwane City and Sekhukhune United who are currently third on the table.
