    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kobamelo Kodisang's agent, Mike Makaab, has revealed he is worried about the attacker's situation at the Premier Soccer League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Makaab said Kodisang has not been given a fair chance to compete, and this has led to a worrying situation that could force the player out of the club.

    WHAT MAKAAB SAID

“We are worried about Kobamelo Kodisang and his struggles for game time because he’s a very talented footballer,” Maakab told FARPost.

“And I think he hasn’t been given a fair chance to compete for his position in the team, but we also understand that the players in his position are doing well, and the team is doing well.

“So we’re going to look at all the best possible options for his career because, as I said, he’s a talented player who should play regular football.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kodisang has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, and as Makaab considers getting him out of Sundowns, the Soweto giants can capitalise on the situation.

The winger joined Masandawana at the beginning of the 2024-25 season from Portuguese outfit Moreirense FC. But he has struggled to become a regular starter for the Tshwane giants both under former head coach Manqoba Mngqithi and now under Miguel Cardoso.

Across all competitions, the former South African junior international has featured in 13 games where he scored two goals.

He faces stiff competition in a Sundowns side that enjoys a deep squad with a rich pool of options for the technical bench. Tashreeq Matthews, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Themba Zwane, and Thapelo Maseko are his club rivals for his position.

Kodisang's hope was to get regular minutes for Sundowns and boost his chances of getting Bafana Bafana call-ups under Hugo Broos, but that has not been achieved so far.

    WHAT NEXT FOR KODISANG?

With Makaab suggesting he is looking for options for Kodisang, it remains to be seen whether he will leave the Chloorkop-based outfit.

Should he finally decide to leave, Amakhosi fans will be eager to see whether he will choose their club or he will prefer to sign for another side.
