    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have had good preparations ahead of the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League season.

The Glamour Boys camped in the Netherlands for three weeks and played five competitive friendly matches, where they ended up with a win and four losses.

They followed it up with the Toyota Cup against Asante Kotoko, but despite showing some quality football, they ended up losing 3-2 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In the forthcoming campaign, Amakhosi are set to make a statement in the PSL following their failure to finish in the top half in the last two seasons.

However, they ended their decade-long trophyless run with the Nedbank Cup, which surely will give the team motivation to successfully defend it. Having missed out on MTN8, the Soweto giants will also be aiming to give their best in the Carling Knockout.

The Glamour Boys will be representing South Africa in the CAF Confederation Cup as well.

Coach Nabi sees no reason why his team can't stage a serious campaign in their bid to win major titles.

    WHAT NABI SAID

"How we’re approaching the season with the league, the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederations Cup is to take game by game and do everything we can in every game to win," he opened up to the media.
“Maybe it’s not gonna be possible to win all the games, maybe it’s gonna be possible.

"But we're gonna challenge for every game in whatever capabilities that we will be in.
“To challenge in every game and every competition, and after that, we will see where we stand," Nabi concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Chiefs have signed six players to help them strengthen the squad, but the Tunisian concedes he needs 'one or two' more to boost some departments.

Since they will not play in the MTN8 this season, Amakhosi have about two more weeks to shape up ahead of a busy campaign.
