Former Switzerland youth international Ruben del Campo has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

    WHAT ATLETICO OTTAWA SAID

"Following a period of negotiation, Ottawa has declined 2025 options on the contracts for goalkeeper Rayane Yesli and defender Zachary Roy," Atletico Ottawa announced in a statement.

"Contracts for Ollie Bassett, Rubén del Campo and Jesús del Amo expired on December 31, 2024."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

All eyes are on Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi to see if he will not make a transfer blunder by signing Campo.

This comes as most Chiefs signings in recent seasons have been flops rather than hits.

But with Campo having scored 12 Canadian Premier League goals in 30 games, that might give Nabi confidence he might have the right man in his sights.

    WHAT NEXT?

Campo is now a free agent and signing him looks like good transfer business for Amakhosi.

The upcoming days or weeks will be crucial in determining whether Campo will join Chiefs or return to Europe, where he has offers from several unnamed clubs.
