Blunt Kaizer Chiefs frustrated by Siwelele FC ahead of do-or-die CAF Confederation Cup showdown against AS Simba

    Chiefs held

Kaizer Chiefs and Siwelele FC have shared points from a Premier Soccer League 0-0 draw at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

This is a frustrating result for Amakhosi, whose last league win came against Golden Arrows in August.

Meanwhile, from when the game started, Siwelele were comfortable playing at the back without threatening Amakhosi, tactically keeping the ball away from their opponents.

However, they managed to test Brandon Petersen in the 16th minute when a combination between Ghampani Lungu and Chibuike Ohizu opened up Chiefs' defence. Petersen managed to pull off a save to deny the Zambian.

After going untested for some time, Ricardo Goss was forced into action in the 19th minute as he reacted to stop Mduduzi Shabalala from scoring. First, the Chiefs forward struck from a distance, but Siwelele's goalkeeper parried the shot away. Shabalala tried to find the back from the loose ball, but he just sent it away from close range.

Petersen almost fumbled in the 22nd minute; a less dangerous cross was delivered into the box by Pule, but the goalkeeper, under no pressure, could not collect it well, as the ball almost rolled into his own net.

Mfundo Vilakazi, one of Chiefs' lively players in the first half, became the first player to be cautioned as he was booked in the 39th minute for a tackle on Neo Rapoo.

The result leaves Amakhosi fourth with 16 points, while they are 15th with eight points.

    The MVP

Goss made a number of saves that denied Chiefs goals, thereby helping his side collect a point away from home.

    The big losers

Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef are facing immense pressure to help Chiefs return to winning ways.

Given that Siwelele have been inconsistent, they were expected to mastermind a win, but they have failed.
