Big scandal explodes at Mamelodi Sundowns as coach is placed on special leave amid probe into 'serious' allegations including allegedly 'making sexual remarks to players and female staff'

Mamelodi Sundowns have placed their ladies' team coach Jerry Tshabalala on suspension amid investigations into alleged "improper conduct."

According to a statement issued by the club, women players are the complainants and the Brazilians are taking the issue in "very serious light."

"The 44-year-old is said have, among other serious allegations, been making sexual remarks to players and female staff, asking them how many times they shave their private parts and how their private parts look or is shaped," a SABC Sport report read.

"He is also accused of walking in when players are changing in the changing room and refusing to leave the changing room, even when players are completely naked."

"Mamelodi Sundowns instructs top law firm to investigate allegations of improper conduct by the coach of its ladies team," Sundowns wrote in a statement.

"The Board of Mamelodi Sundowns has been made aware of allegations of improper conduct that have been made by various women players against the coach of its ladies team, Jerry Tshabalala.

"Mamelodi Sundowns views these allegations in a very serious light and has appointed a top law firm, Bowmans, to investigate these allegations and to report to the Board as soon as possible.

"Sundowns has, in the interim, put coach Jerry Tshabalala on special leave pending the outcome of the investigation. This is not done to pre-empt the outcome of the investigation, but to ensure that the investigation can proceed expeditiously and protect the rights of all parties.

"In the event that the investigation establishes facts that warrant action, the board will immediately take such steps as are appropriate. Mamelodi Sundowns will in due course make announcements on the findings of the investigation and the action to be taken."

Sundowns Ladies' shambolic showing at the Caf Women's Champions League in November could be a hint that things might not have been well in their camp.

Banyana ba Style were not themselves and bowed out at the group stage in a tournament they arrived as defending champions.

However, Tshabalala is under investigation and it remains to be seen if the allegations levelled against him are true.

If allegations levelled against Tshabalala are proven to be true, a criminal case cannot be ruled out from being opened.

Sundowns Ladies are currently eyeing getting over this episode and winning another Super League title next season.
