    WHAT HAPPENED?

Vincent Pule served Orlando Pirates from the 2018/19 season to the 2023/24 edition after joining from Bidvest Wits.

He had a good combination with Thembinkosi Lorch who played for Bucs from the 2016/17 campaign until the 2023/24 January transfer window when he made a shock move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pule was released by the Soweto giants before the start of this season.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Pirates have massive talent in the attacking department which have seen coach Jose Riveiro trying different combinations.

However, they have not managed to have the desired impact at times since some players opt to go for individual brilliance.

Recently, Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohanu Nkota have shown a good understanding, with the latter scoring four goals that the former has assisted.

Bucs supporters would love to see more of those like Pule and Lorch.

Pule explains what made their relationship special.

    WHAT PULE SAID

“I think it comes a long way, the time that I was playing for African Warriors, Lorch was at Maluti FET,” Pule told FARPost.

“It’s a bit closer because we used to share the same stadium. Some friends of Lorch from Bloemfontein, we used to chill together.

“I think it started from there, we used to talk and I think we became a bit closer. So, I think playing at Pirates, it was that thing of I know Lorch and he knows me [too].

“The chemistry was better," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

It will be critical for Pirates to get a working formula amongst the players if they are to sustain their good start to the ongoing campaign.

With the January transfer window around the corner, Riveiro might be tempted to get another player to strengthen his squad.

Apart from the Premier Soccer League, Pirates have been tipped to deliver in the Caf Champions League.
