    WHAT HAPPENED?

IFK Varnamo defensive midfielder Luke Le Roux has revealed that ever-green Sundowns captain Themba Zwane is the best player he has ever played with.

The duo played together in midfield on October 11 against Congo in Group K of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, a game that ended 5-0 in favour of Bafana.

    WHAT LE ROUX SAID

"Look, I’ve played I think now four or five games with ‘Mshishi The Great’ as we call him," the midfielder said as quoted by iDiski Times.

"I can tell you honestly, he’s the best player I have played with in my career. I think that says a lot. Just the type of player he is, the way he moves on the field, the way he passes the ball, the way he moves, everything is just smooth, you know.

"That’s true, he doesn’t lose the ball and he’s really good with the ball. He does what he needs to do and what he wants to do," Le Roux concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In the second meeting between Bafana Bafana and the Red Devils, Zwane injured his Achilles which forced him out of the pitch after 40 minutes.

He is set to be out for several months meaning he will miss the last round of qualifiers scheduled for November.

South Africa will play Uganda Cranes away before hosting South Sudan hoping to do just enough to get their Afcon ticket.

    WHAT NEXT?

In the absence of Zwane, Orlando Pirates star Patrick Maswanganyi is expected to be given a chance to prove his value for the national team.

There have been suggestions that Hugo Broos should also consider in-form Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gaston Sirino as Zwane's replacement.

It is interesting to see whether the Belgian will give him a chance.
