Broos wants to finish his football career on a high

Hugo Broos has confirmed he will retire once he guides Bafana Bafana in the 2026 World Cup to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The veteran tactician has been with Bafana Bafana since 2021, helping them qualify for the previous AFCON edition, where they won bronze.

Winning the AFCON and performing well at the World Cup will be the perfect send-off.

PSL not according Broos enough support?

Prior to the 2021 AFCON, the PSL did not grant Broos enough time to prepare his team, something that did not go down well with him.

Having helped Bafana Bafana to the podium positions, Broos had expected a favourable schedule from the domestic competitions' managers.

However, it has not been the case, and the Belgian has opened up on the same.

Broos delighted he will have more time with Downs & Chiefs players

“We will start the preparations on 8 December," the former Cameroon coach told the media.

"So, we will go to Tuks here in Pretoria, and we will stay there until the 17th because we have to be in Morocco five days before the first game.

“So, the day before we leave, we will play a friendly game. We are looking at who we will play against," he explained.

"Again, I would have liked to start a little bit earlier, but yeah, for the second time, PSL didn’t collaborate because there’s a Carling [Knockout] Cup final.

“I’m happy [Mamelodi] Sundowns and [Kaizer] Chiefs are already out," he concluded.

    Motivation for Chiefs players?

Recently, Mduduzi Shabalala and Thabiso Monyane have been included in the Bafana Bafana squad.

Having made the CAF Confederation Cup group stage will be enough motivation for them to give their best.

Broos might consider having a few more players from Amakhosi to represent the nation.
