    WHAT HAPPENED?

Bafana Bafana will renew their rivalry with Zimbabwe after the two neighbours were drawn in Group A of the 2025 Cosafa Cup.

After avoiding tournament guests Morocco, who are in Group C, South Africa will also face Mozambique and Mauritius in their pool.

This year's Cosafa Cup will be staged in Bloemfontein from June 4 to 15.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

After Bafana qualified for the 2024 African Nations Championship, they are expected to use the Cosafa Cup as preparations for the tournament to be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in August.

Players who helped South Africa qualify for Chan are likely to dominate the Cosafa Cup.

It would also be an opportunity for the players to capture the attention of Bafana coach Hugo Broos the way the likes of Kaizer Chiefs' Rushwin Dortley, Thabang Matuludi and Thabo Moloisane did last year.

With the Mangaung tournament approaching, the South Africa squad is expected to be named in the upcoming days.
