The Belgian has been doing well since taking over the national team but might opt to leave once he leads the country in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bafana Bafana tactician Hugo Broos has steadied the national team since getting the mandate to coach them in 2021.

Speculations have it that the 73-year-old might walk away once he guides the team in the global competition to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 

The Belgian's contract with the South African Football Association expires in June 2026, and former Orlando Pirates defender Edward Motale believes his assistant Helman Mkhalele is best suited to succeed the ex-Cameroon coach.
