Arthur Sales makes bold declaration following an inconsistent debut season at Mamelodi Sundowns - 'I want Lucas Ribeiro's level! I want to be better'

Arthur Sales was signed by Mamelodi Sundowns to add more venom in the club's attacking system ahead of the concluded campaign.

The versatile attacker struggled to deliver earlier in the season before ending the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League campaign as the most in-form players.

In the 42 games played across all competitions, Sales had nine goals and 10 assists.

Even after a good ending in the PSL, Sales did not have a big impact in the just concluded FIFA Club World Cup where Masandawana failed to get past the group stage.

One of the players who have been close to Sales is Lucas Ribeiro who has been delivering for the club regardless of the platform.

The Brazilian played 51 games across all competitions with a return of 21 goals and 14 assists.

Sales is now keen to emulate his fellow South American.

“It’s difficult to [describe] Lucas Ribeiro [because] he’s not only a big player, but a big personality also," he told the media.

"I stay with this guy every day, travel so much, stay with him in the hotel too much with this guy – and then everything about him is good.

“He’s always smiling, joking, doing brilliant things on the pitch and when you watch this, you say wow, this guy is different.

"And me? I want this level, I want to be better; brilliant player, brilliant friend," Sales concluded.

Sales has already made a promise to Sundowns faithful on what he intends to deliver in the new season.

Coach Miguel Cardoso likes Sales and will definitely give him chances to deliver for the club at both the domestic and international front.
