    TELL ME MORE

Kaizer Chiefs enjoyed the lion’s share of possession in the opening exchanges but found clear-cut chances hard to come by, with Glody Lilepo forcing Salim Magoola into the first real save inside 15 minutes.

On the other hand, Richards Bay were content to absorb the pressure, sitting deep and looking to threaten on the break whenever the opportunity arose. The hosts suffered a setback late in the half when Aden McCarthy picked up an injury, paving the way for Zitha Kwinika to make his first appearance of the season.

With neither side able to break the deadlock, the teams went into the halftime interval locked at 0-0.

After the restart, Chiefs turned up the intensity, with substitute Gaston Sirino injecting fresh energy into the attack. The South American was rewarded just before the hour mark, finishing off a clever move created by Wandile Duba to finally break the deadlock in the 57th minute.

Amakhosi continued to press forward, with Thabiso Monyane making threatening runs down the right flank, while substitute Mfundo Vilakazi injected energy and kept fans on their feet in the closing stages.

Ultimately, Sirino’s decisive goal was enough to secure Chiefs their third consecutive Premier Soccer League victory, keeping them in second place on the log behind Sekhukhune United, who lead on goal difference.

    THE MVP

Although introduced only after the break, Sirino wasted no time making his presence felt, injecting energy and creativity into Chiefs’ attack.

    THE BIG LOSER

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit arrived at FNB Stadium with a clear plan to sit deep and soak up pressure, offering little in the way of entertainment for the home crowd hoping to see Chiefs tested.
