AmaZulu FC release 16 players including ex-Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns stars as Arthur Zwane revamps squad

AmaZulu FC announced the departure of 16 players on Friday night following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League season.

The list of departures is headlined by former Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Mamelodi Sundowns product Kwanda Mngonyama and ex-Orlando Pirates star Abbubaker Mobara.

Usuthu issued a statement indicating that the following players had been released by the club;

Augustine Mulenga

Ethan Brooks

Skhulile Manyoni

Wayde Jooste

Thembela Sikhakhane

Ramahlwe Mphahlele

Kwanda Mngonyama

Mbongeni Gumede

Abbubakar Mobara

Andile Mbanjwa

AmaZulu, who finished sixth in the PSL in the recent campaign, are set to sign new players for the 2025/26 campaign, which is expected to start in August.

Usuthu have been linked with Chippa United goalkeeper Darren Johnson, Keagan Allan of Richards Bay and Kruger United attacking midfielder Thapelo Matlhoko.

AmaZulu will be busy in the upcoming transfer window, which opens on July 1, as they reinforce their squad, which has been depleted by the recent departures.

Coach Arthur Zwane will aim to assemble a strong squad that can challenge for a top-four finish in the PSL and win a cup competition.
