    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly been after the signature of AmaZulu left-back Riaan Hanamub.

Amakhosi's Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates were also said to have been interested in the defender.

Hanamub comments on the transfer talk around him regarding the two traditional giants.

    WHAT HANAMUB SAID

“My duty as a player is to make sure that I give my best in every game that I’m playing,” Hanamub said as per FARPost.

“You know, in football, everything happens for a reason, and obviously, it’s everyone’s dream to play for the big teams in the country.

“Right now, I’m here at AmaZulu. I’m content and happy because the club welcomed me with open arms, and AmaZulu is like home away from home for me," added the Namibia international.

“The teams [Chiefs and Pirates] have approached me, but you know, there are ways of doing things. I have an agent, and they’ve approached the agent."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chances of Hanamub going to Chiefs this transfer window appear slim at the moment as Amakhosi have signed left-back Paseka Mako from Orlando Pirates.

Pirates have also brought in Tshepo Mashiloane and Nkosikhona Ndaba who provide more options on the left side of defence where Deon Hotto can also operate from.

That makes a move to the Buccaneers something almost impossible for Hanamub at the moment.

    WHAT NEXT?

Hanamub seems certain to stay at AmaZulu for the upcoming season and will be one of their senior players.

For now, he is focusing on helping Usuthu get past Stellenbosch in the MTN8 quarter-finals when the two sides meet at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday.
