    WHAT NTSHANGASE SAID

"What I can confirm is that our discussions with Pirates have gone very well, to the satisfaction of both parties. It is up to Pirates to issue an official statement on Makhaula's contract and its duration," Ntshangase told Isolezwe.

"I don't like to talk too much (to the media) about the contract of a player I represent, but I leave a lot to his team once we have concluded negotiations with them."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Since he joined the Sea Robbers from AmaZulu, Makhaula has established himself as a regular starter, and his experience has come in handy for Pirates as he is a dependable pillar in the midfield.

In the last three seasons, Makhaula helped Pirates win two Nedbank Cups and two MTN8 trophies under former head coach Jose Riveiro.

Although he has been a regular starter, the expected arrival of Sihle Nduli is expected to add competition for his position.

News of Makhaula's contract extension comes after Innocent Maela and experienced midfielder Miguel Timm left the club as their deals were not extended.
